• Chinese-American artist Jian Wang was born in Dalian in 1958. At the age of ten he took up painting and later went on to 
      study art in America in 1986. He received his Master's in 1994 from California State.

      Since his first show in 1987, during the decades spent living in the US, Wang Jian has successively held over
       fifty solo exhibitions in cities as diverse as New York, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Diego,
       and Sacramento. Close to one thousand of his pieces have been collected by local art galleries, various government 
      agencies, universities, enterprises and private collectors.

      In 1997，the catalogue “Jian Wang Searching for the Dream: First Decade in America 1987-1997”was published. In 2007, “Jian Wang—Two Decades in America” was published by California State University.
      In 2008, “Full Circle – the Art of Jian Wang’s Oil Paintings” and “Jian Wang, the legend of a Chinese Artist in 
      America” were published. Up to now, he has published more than ten catalogues and albums.In 2006, PBS and KVIE shot a documentary called “Jian Wang-Full Circle” including interviews with Fred Dalkey, Wayne Thiebaud, Russ Solomon, Marjorie Francisco, 

      In 2007, his retrospective exhibition “Wang Jian, Twenty Years in America” was held at California State

      In 2008, he held another solo exhibition: “Full Circle, The Art of Wang Jian’s Oil Paintings” at Beijing's National 
      Art Museum of China, which was curated by the museum director, Fan Dian.featured on the CCTV news 
      program “      Struggle”. An additional piece:“Wang Jian, The Legend of a Chinese Artist” was recorded by CCTV 4
      for the program “Chinese World”, and       so far, Wang Jian has also been interviewed on countless occasions for 
      media outlets outside of China.

      In 2011, he staged retrospective exhibition “Long Way Home, Wang Jian's  Twenty Five Year Exhibition” 
      at Dalian's Zhongshan Art Museum with Li Xianting acting as academic consultant and Wang Duanting and Gezi as curators.

      In 2012, he joined “Integration and ExpansionA Group Exhibit of Returning Overseas Artists” inside Beijing's China Millennium Monument, which was sponsored by Art China. He also took part in “Chinese Family – Paintings and Calligraphy of Overseas Chinese” at The National Museum of China, sponsored by the Chinese Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
